I wanted to write to all our brokers to tell you a bit about the changes we’ve been making here at Health Shield and my plans as the new Chief Executive.

First of all, I’m really excited to be appointed CEO Designate of Health Shield; it’s a Society with a long and enviable history, grounded in its strong mutual ethos - an ethos that’s arguably more relevant than ever to our customers.

It’s an honour to be given the opportunity to lead the business, particularly to help engage our amazing workforce in our strategic plans. Our plans will help us to meet the ever-evolving needs of the Society’s customers, guided by our promise to keep your clients and their people in the best of health.

Whilst change can be unsettling, it is important to ensure we offer the best possible experience to our customers. So, over the coming months, I’ll be leading the Society through a period of exciting business-wide transformation. This means we’ll embrace the latest digital technologies with a customer-centric approach and work hard to reassert Health Shield as the best cash plan provider in the market.

Recent changes within the Executive Team include the appointment of Paul Shires, who we’re thrilled to have on board as our new Commercial Director. I’m sure many of you will be familiar with Paul through his 30-plus years of financial services experience, with previous roles spanning from Managing Director of UK Healthcare at Westfield Health to Head of Partnerships at Cigna.

I feel incredibly lucky to be leading the Society forward in this challenging post-pandemic world. During our transformation programme we’ll continue to provide you and your clients the excellent and flexible service you trust us to provide; whilst also listening to how we can improve as we further build on our solid foundations.
